It’s baby joy for Princess Beatrice! Buckingham Palace announced the arrival of Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi on January 22 at 12.57pm at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, weighing 1.9kg.
Arriving several weeks early, proud dad Edoardo, 41, says, “She is tiny and absolutely perfect”, and that their family is “completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena”.

The palace statement says, “The King and Queen, and other members of the royal family, have all been informed and are delighted by the news. Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family is enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”
Athena is the younger sister of three-year-old Sienna, whose name also honours Queen Elizabeth like Athena, and eight-year-old Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf is from a previous relationship of Edo’s.

The adorable baby is the 11th in line of succession to the throne, meaning her aunt, Princess Eugenie, has moved down to 12th place.
Proud grandmother Sarah Ferguson is also thrilled with the new arrival, saying, “Overflowing with love and joy”, and that “she is already so adored and I’m incredibly blessed to be a granny once again. So proud of Edo, Beatrice and the rest of my little five-a-side team!”
