Princess Catherine has shared a rare update on her and Prince William’s three children as they attended their first public engagement after the late monarch’s funeral.
The couple travelled to Windsor Guildhall on Thursday, just moments away from Windsor Castle, which the Queen called home in her final years.
There they met with staff and volunteers who helped manage crowds and other elements of the Queen’s funeral on Monday.
The Princess of Wales revealed to those gathered that with so many mourners travelling to Windsor in the days after the Queen’s death, she worried for her children.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had just started at a new school in the area when the Queen died and it’s believed the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted to keep life as normal as possible for the children.
“We were grateful we could still get the children to and from school,” she confessed to staff and volunteers who helped manage the crowds in Windsor.
“The spotlight was on Windsor and it looked incredible, so well done. It’s amazing how many people wanted to come and pay their respects.”
George and Charlotte accompanied their parents to the Queen’s funeral, though Louis was not in attendance.

Eagle-eyed royal fans also noticed that Catherine paid a subtle tribute to the late Queen with her outfit, choosing a black coat as she continues to observe the official period of mourning.
The chic Dolce & Gabbana number is the very same one Catherine wore for her first public outing after Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021.
It was a clever way to honour the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s memories without taking attention away from the solemn visit in the wake of Her Majesty’s funeral.
Meanwhile William spoke candidly about his grief following the Queen’s death as he confessed that the pain of his grandmother’s passing still catches him unawares.

“If you flip it on its head, it is always very comforting that so many people care. It makes it a lot better,” he told volunteers.
“There are certain moments that catch you out. You are prepared for all but certain moments catch you out.”
He revealed that it’s often the tributes that he doesn’t expect that make him emotional, such as countless Paddington Bear tributes that continue to get him “choked up”.
