Prince George’s royal sibling is finally here! The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34AM (local time), Kensington Palace has confirmed, and the name is due to be announced soon.
According to the official palace statement, the baby weighed in at 8lbs 3oz, and the Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Kate went into labour at 6AM (local time) today and was admitted to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s hospital.
This is the second child for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, joining one-year-old big brother Prince George.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the official statement read.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
The anticipation for the new Princess has been just as feverish the second time around, almost two years after the arrival of gorgeous Prince George. The little Princess will be fourth in line for the throne, knocking her uncle Prince Harry down to fifth in the line of succession.
Congratulations to the happy parents!
