As the saying goes, revenge is a dish best served cold, but when it comes to celebrity splits, a break-up album cuts through the heartache like nothing else can. It’s certainly something Keith Urban has been mulling over in the wake of his split from Nicole Kidman, with insiders revealing he’s been pouring his heartache, anger and raw emotion into what he’s calling “the mother of all break-up albums”.
One well-placed source tells us, “Move over, Taylor Swift and Lily Allen – Keith’s been charting his emotional journey since his break-up with Nicole through songwriting and it turns out he has a lot to say.”
Last week, Keith’s friend and fellow country music star Russell Dickerson confirmed he’s working on new songs.
“He’s always been focused on music, so I think he’s just kind of doubling down on that and it’s just beautiful,” Russell revealed.
“I can’t wait to hear what comes out of it.”

Fears of a revenge album
Russell’s comments have sparked a panic with Nicole’s camp, who fear Keith, 58, has a Taylor-style revenge album in the works.
“Nicole’s freaking out,” a friend reports.
“Even though Keith’s limited with what he can and can’t say under the terms of the divorce, she was never able to make stipulations about his music. It’s the only outlet he has to express himself and she’s right to be worried. “Keith could make things very uncomfortable for her. She’s taking every precaution necessary to avoid this, even if it means getting lawyers involved. “She’s not having Keith kiss and tell, exposing her flaws to the world, no matter how cryptically he might present it. The gloves are off – there’s no point in pretending this is remotely amicable any more.”
Caught in the middle
Putting more pressure on their increasingly fractious split, the Kiwi-born crooner’s relationship with their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith, 15, has become strained. It’s thought they’ve barely seen their father since the famous couple separated last September.
“The last thing Nicole wants is to be branded an Angelina [Jolie] by alienating his kids, but it may be too late for that,” spills our source.
“Faith and Sunday are old enough to make up their own minds, and it’s up to him to make things right with them, not her.”
Music is his outlet
The insider says Keith has written several songs about being a father to Sunday and Faith, but they’re unlikely to make the album’s final cut as he’s recording so many sad tracks about Nicole, 58. The Oscar winner’s rumoured relationship with her Scarpetta co-star Simon Baker isn’t easing her fears that Keith won’t go easy on her either, we’re told.
“He’s finding it therapeutic to offload into his music, but he hopes to be in a much better place when he makes the final cut on what will, auspiciously, be his 13th original album. Only time will tell what will happen.”
