Joining the ranks of Disney’s live-action remakes such as Mulan, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, the next originally-animated classic to get the live-action remake is Pinocchio. And if its predecessors are anything to go by, Pinocchio is sure to be a new family fave.
What is ‘Pinocchio’ about?
Pinocchio tells the tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy.
Pinocchio is the creation of Geppetto, a childless woodcarver, who wishes on a star for Pinocchio to become a real boy. His wish is heard by a Blue Fairy, who visits Geppetto and brings the puppet to life. An overjoyed Geppetto raises him as if he were his own son, but for Pinocchio to become a real boy instead of just a living puppet, he’ll go on the adventure of a lifetime and learn how to be selfless, brave and true.
Who is cast in ‘Pinocchio’
Starring as Geppetto and Pinocchio are Tom Hanks (Elvis, Forrest Gump) and newcomer Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Sandman). Joseph Gordon-Levitt is taking on the role of Pinocchio’s guide and conscience Jiminy Cricket. Academy Award nominees Cynthis Erivo, Keegan-Michael Key and Lorraine Bracco are starring as Blue Fairy, “Honest” John and Sofia the Seagull respectively, and Disney veteran Luke Evans also stars as The Coachman.
