Jason Momoa brings star power and culture to Chief of War premiere in Hawai’i

From traditional hula to mana-filled performances by artists such as Stan Walker, Polynesian culture was celebrated at the world premiere of Jason Momoa’s new series Chief Of War in O‘ahu, Hawai’i.

Walking the red carpet with his girlfriend Adria Arjona, 33, Jason, 45, who wrote, starred and produced the highly anticipated Apple TV+ series, wore a traditional ‘ahu‘ula (cloak).

He was joined by his two children to ex-wife Lisa Bonet, 57, daughter Lola, 18, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 16.

With the series filmed between Hawai’i and New Zealand, our local actors were out in force, including Jason’s co-star Te Ao o Hinepenga, 30, who wore a stunning Simple Sustainability dress.

She walked the red carpet alongside her mum Tania Rauna and her language coach Kalei Kawa’a.

Te Ao was joined by other Kiwi acting legends, including Cliff Curtis, 56, and Temuera Morrison, 64, who both play chiefs in the series that critics are already hailing as the new Game Of Thrones.

Former Shortland Street actor Te Kohe Tuhaka, 43, and Kiwi Night Agent star Luciane Buchanan, 32, who also star in the series, flew to Hawai’i to show their support for Jason. Those who attended the star-studded event say it captured the warmth, spirit and the beauty of native Hawaiian culture.
