We already knew Ariana Grande was a talented singer, but as it turns out, the songstress has a few acting tricks up her sleeves too!
Pulling double duty as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, Ariana had viewers in stitches with her spot-on impression of Joy star Jennifer Lawrence. Donning a blonde bobbed wig and pitching her voice low to mimic the actress’ husky tones, Ariana took a jab at Jennifer’s down to earth persona.
“They told me not to go a game show but I was like screw it, I can have fun, I’m a regular person,” she said during one sketch.
“I’m just like a snackaholic. I mean, I love Pringles, if no one’s looking I’ll eat like, a whole can. Like, every day is my cheat day, you know what I mean?” she joked, while comedian Kenan Thompson quipped back, “Oh, how annoyingly relatable.”
Of course, the ‘Dangerous Woman’ singer also got to show off her impressive pipes in the episode, and not just during her musical performances.
For another sketch which cast her in the role of an intern at Tidal (Jay Z’s real life music streaming service), Ariana showed off her vocal impressions of Shakira, Rihanna, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears and Celine Dion.
This isn’t the first time the singer’s pulled off an uncanny impression of a fellow pop star. For an earlier appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show, the 22-year-old gave a sneak preview of her Britney impression for Jimmy’s ‘Wheel of Musical Impressions’ segment.
