Nicole Kidman has been confirmed to star in the second series of hit Kiwi series Top of the Lake.
The Australian actress has returned home to begin shooting the series, which this time is taking place in bustling Sydney.
In the first series, written by Kiwi Jane Campion and Aussie Gerard Lee, the action took place in rural Otago – focusing around the disappearance of a pregnant 12 year old girl.
Top of the Lake starred Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss and Holly Hunter, who previous starred in Campion’s Oscar-winning film, The Piano.
Moss will return for the follow up, and Game of Thrones’ actress Gwendoline Christie also has a major role in the mini-series.
After receiving glowing reviews from across New Zealand, Australia and the UK for the last series, the second series is hotly anticipated.
So far, producers have confirmed that Top of the Lake: China Girl will focus around the discovery of a body washed up on Bondi Beach.
