Ridiculously short celebrity marriages

Which celeb made this list twice?

Celebrities are just as likely to be unlucky in love as us mere mortals.

But not all of us rush down the aisle in a blur, only to (very publicly) split soon after.

From the Hilton’s to Britney Spears, here are some of Tinseltown’s shortest marriages.

85 days: Paris Hilton’s little sister Nicky Hilton married hedge-fund businessman Todd Meister in August 2004, only to have the Las Vegas marriage annulled in November of the same year. Nicky got her fairytale wedding in the end though – her 2015 marriage to James Rothschild was beautiful and is still going strong today.

9 days: Though Baywatch star Carmen Electra’s 9 day marriage to basketball player Dennis Rodman was short, it should be known that they married at 7 am – so it was for 9 WHOLE days that they were husband and wife. The words “deeply intoxicated” were used in reference to their early-morning wedding as a reason given as to why they filed for annulment so fast.

55 hours: Britney Spears’ time spent as Jason Alexander’s wife lasted less than three days. The childhood friends said “I do” in Las Vegas in 2004 but quickly realised their mistake, calling for an annulment.

Four months: Lisa Marie Presley’s third marriage was also her shortest. The daughter of Elvis married Nicolas Cage in August 2002 after the pair met at a friend’s house party in 1999. They called it quits in November 2002.

9 months: Drew Barrymore and Tom Green announced their shock marriage in 2011. Nine months later, the pair announced their divorce.

218 days: At over 6 months, this marriage looks like a live time next to some of the others on our list, but Jennifer Lopez’s marriage to professional dancer Cris Judd was short by normal standards. The two started dating when he appeared in the music video for “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” Apparently it does cost something though – 218 days and some legal fees.

Eight months: Opening up about her short-lived marriage to Fred Armisen in New York magazine in 2014, Elisabeth Moss said the whole experience was “extremely traumatic and “awful and horrible”. The actor himself also told Howard Stern that he was a “terrible husband” during their tumultuous relationship.

72 days: Kim Kardashian married basketball star Kris Humphries in an extravagant wedding in 2011. It’s believed she made $2.7 million from the televised event.

Nine days: That’s right, just nine days after she wed Gregg Allman in Las Vegas in 1975, Cher filed to have the marriage dissolved. She had also just finalised her divorce from Sonny Bono three days before.

Four months: Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito was married in December 2006, with the actress filing for divorce in May 2007. Fast forward to 2014 and Jennifer released a book in which she called him a “master manipulator” and said she was “walking on eggshells”.

Five months: Former One Tree Hill co-stars Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray married in 2005. When asked about her ex in an interview on Watch What Happens Live, the actress said, “We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place.”

Four months: After the two dated then split up in 2003, it was announced in 2006 that Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock were getting married. They said their vows on a yacht near Saint-Tropez, France in July 2006 and split just before Thanksgiving the same year. The fleeting couple’s ceremony was surrounded in speculation of pregnancy, and indeed, that November, Pamela announced that she had miscarried.

60 days: Come on, Pamela, once we can understand, but twice!? Pamela Anderson’s second wedding on this list happened the year after the other one. She married Rick Salomon, a poker player famous only for his relationships with celebrities (including Paris Hilton, Elizabeth Daily, Shannen Doherty) and his role in Paris Hilton’s sex tape, during a break during a show she was appearing in in Las Vegas. Pam realised her mistake and filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” around 10 weeks later.

128 Days: In May 2005, the seemingly fairly sensible Renee Zellweger married this man, country music singer Kenny Chesney, while on holiday in the Caribbean, before having the marriage annulled, citing “fraud” as the reason and asking that Kenny not receive spousal support.

She later clarified that clarify that the term ‘fraud’ as listed in the documentation is simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny’s character.” She added that she wanted to “maintain the integrity of our privacy by not commenting on the specifics of our decision.”

Kenny Commented that married life wasn’t something he could “commit” to. So maybe don’t get married then, Kenny?
