It’s hard to imagine that blonde bombshell Rachel Hunter could be anything less than confident, but the Auckland-born Kiwi star is opening up about the insecurities that almost pushed her to get plastic surgery.
Speaking at a promotional appearance for her show Tour of Beauty, which is set to premiere soon in the US, the 46-year-old revealed that she had been shocked after seeing photos of herself.
“In real life I was fairly happy with myself. In photos I was horrified,” she told reporters at the Television Critics Association Meeting in Los Angeles.
“People were like, ‘Why don’t you get rid of those deep lines (around her mouth)?”
For a time, Rachel revealed she was so self-conscious about it that she took to wearing scarves to hide the area.
That all changed after filming began on her show, which saw the supermodel travelling all around the world to discover how different cultures viewed beauty, and their local beauty secrets.
“After going on this journey and seeing other cultures, away went that superficial idea of beauty,” Rachel said.
“Ideas of beauty are old and need to be shattered. We have no self-acceptance. If we don’t enjoy who we are then how can you offer fully any sense of beauty or well-being or longevity?”
