Rachel Hunter sheds tears of joy at son Liam’s wedding

Her son Liam’s wedding was a huge, fun-filled family affair

Kiwi supermodel Rachel Hunter was a picture of happiness walking beside her son Liam as he made his way to the church and into his wedding with long-term partner Nicole Artukovich in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

“Literally no words other than high vibe energies when two families and friends come together to celebrate this incredible union,” proud mum Rachel said of the lavish nuptials.

“I haven’t stopped crying tears of happiness. I’m so lucky to have Nicole as my daughter-in-law. As well as your family and incredible mum Tina.”

Rachel was stunning in a teal dress, while Liam sported a cream suit for the ceremony held in the Church of St Ignatius, which featured heavily in hit series Game Of Thrones.

Liam’s dad, Sir Rod Stewart – who was married to Rachel from 1990 to 2006 – was resplendent in a lavender three-piece suit and the rocker looked as pleased as punch attending the ceremony with wife Penny Lancaster, who shone in a lilac satin dress.

But nobody outshone the bride, who wowed her groom in a strapless floor-length gown by Vera Wang. Nicole later swapped that dress for a fabulous, flirty corsetted number by the same designer.

The fun-filled after-party was a rollicking family affair. All of Rod’s seven other children – Sarah, 59, Kimberly, 44, Ruby, 36, Renee, 32, Sean, 43, Alastair, 18, and Aiden, 13 – were in attendance.

The whole clan came together to celebrate the couple’s big day.

Rachel posted a sweet video of ice-hockey player Liam and his US project manager bride, both 29, sharing a slice of cake and kissing, along with footage of herself, Liam and Tina dancing with the wedding guests. Tina waved a Croatian flag, while Rachel proudly displayed a Kiwi one.

Her daughter Renee also shared a heart-warming reel of the newlyweds during their first dance. Ruby – daughter of Rod and his first wife Kelly Emberg – sang for guests during the celebrations.

Proving there’s no animosity between Rod’s wives, Rachel and Penny posed for a snap with Renee.

“Their love is on fire, their light shines so bright,” Penny, 53, wrote on social media. “Congratulations, you lovebirds, I’m honoured to have been a part of your beautiful celebrations.”

Rod, 79, added, “I’m immensely proud to have witnessed the beautiful wedding ceremony of my son Liam to his bride Nicole. What a wonderful union of the Stewarts and the Artukoviches. May they continue to find joy, love and laughter for as long as they may live, and produce many more babies to join their little one-year-old boy Louie.”

Later on in the evening, as the party ramped up and the clock passed midnight, the wedding guests celebrated Renee’s birthday.

Ruby shared a video of the groom singing Happy Birthday to his sister on stage. She admitted, “I don’t think I can go to another wedding after this… Nothing will ever compare!”

The happy occasion comes after Liam and Nicole welcomed their first child Louie Mark Roderick Stewart in May last year.

Rachel, a first-time grandmother, clearly adored the new arrival. “Welcome, you divine soul,” she posted. “Seeing you three together, Nicole, you are a queen. Liam, so proud. Love you guys.”

The supermodel-turned-yoga teacher enjoys a close relationship with both her adult children and runs yoga retreats with Renee.

“That open line of communication we have – it’s so important,” she says. “This younger generation now, they’re so cool and so much more evolved. They really want to be who they are. They’re not scared or afraid to do that.”
