Rachel Hunter: Being sexy is tough work

The model reveals the fine line between sexy and silly as the Top Model competition heats up.

This week the models had to show that they can be sexy and show their sensual side without being awkward or overly provocative – not an easy process to learn. Dancing is a great way of learning how to make interesting shapes with your body, and Wil Sabin was a great teacher. Trying to eat a banana without looking silly or rude is no easy task!

Part of the difficulty the girls have is their age. It’s hard for most women learning to be comfortable and ooze sexuality without being awkward, and not many teens have learned that yet. I was a dancer before I was a model, but I didn’t learn how to use my body properly as a model until I was older.

The girls are lucky to be taught the kind of extreme situations they will need to learn. Wil has put them in an uncomfortable position, deliberately making them feel awkward so they push through the feeling and move forward. Even if you find that feeling for a second, you’ve learned something. It’s a great tool for the girls to have.

Being sexy is something we’re often asked to do, and some of the best modelling moments ever have happened as a result.

While I appreciate it’s not easy, almost all the girls looked really uncomfortable. Some of them will find that place and learn how to control what they portray, but Yanna was hopeless. She’s so giggly around guys, and she completely lost it for the second week running when she had to work with a gorgeous man. You have to learn how to work with anyone, be able to have a laugh but still take it seriously and not be affected by people around you.

I find Yanna adorable and I love her attitude, but she acted completely starstruck, and her last two shoots weren’t good enough to make it at the top.

If I had to pick two favourites now, it would be Rosanagh and Aroha. These two have a real natural beauty and elegance. Sensuality is a very subtle thing, and these two have it. They’re also not trying to play a “role” or be sultry – they just are.

AJ tried hard to bring out her inner feline when she poses at the zoo, but she’s so awkward! But her personality gets her through. It’s okay to say some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth – she just needs to make sure she looks good enough if she wants to be professional.

It’s a shame Tyne is behaving the way she is. She’s clearly agitating the other girls in the house. The stakes are getting higher as more contestants are being eliminated each week, and the fewer girls there are, the more intense the atmosphere between them is going to get.

And when the girls get home, it’s important that they learn to kick back, relax and enjoy the moment, as you can’t be intense all the time.

While some of the girls are doing well, Yanna simply wasn’t good enough. Briana and Amber also need to watch themselves. They’re definitely treading a fine line.
