Carey and her musician hubby Marcus Mumford (of the band Mumford & Sons) welcomed their first child three weeks ago, but the actress has only recently confirmed the sex of the baby.
The 30-year-old Suffragette star let the news slip during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where she appeared alongside her co-star Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.
The low-key star never publicly acknowledged the pregnancy, but tongues started wagging after Carey appeared in a series of loose-fitting gowns on the red carpet. At the London Film Festival premiere of Suffragette last week, the star dazzled in a Chanel gown that showed off her flat tummy, confirming she had given birth.
Most recently, Carey also revealed her daughter’s name is Evelyn, telling Entertainment Tonight at another premiere this week that she “just came up with it”.
This is the first child for Carey and Marcus, who wed in 2012 on a farm in Somerset, England. The duo reportedly wrote to each other as pen pals during their childhood in England, before being reintroduced as adults by their mutual friend Jake Gyllenhaal.
