It’s sadly confirmed, ladies: The Oscar-winning actor won’t be reprising his role as ‘Dallas’ in Magic Mike XXL

Matthew’s busy schedule is said to be the main reason why he won’t be back for the sequel to the immensely popular 2012 film, which was loosely based on star Channing Tatum’s own past as a male stripper.

There is good news, however – along with Channing, several of Magic Mike‘s original stars will be coming back for the second installment. That includes the dreamy Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello, who’s been posting his progress on social media as he gets back into shape for his role.

Joe posted this shot of his training session on Instagram

According to director Gregory Jacobs, Magic Mike XXL will be an all new experience with the gang setting out on a raunchy road trip.

“It’s different enough that once you see it, you’ll understand why we made a sequel,” he told E!.

“No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice.”

Meanwhile, Channing Tatum has let a few details slip about the stars he wanted to put in the film. During his interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week, he revealed that Chris Pratt was one of his original choices for the first movie, and Zac Efron was another potential actor he thought about for the sequel!

“Of course, I want to see Zac naked,” Channing joked.

Magic Mike XXL is set to hit cinemas in July 2015.
