There are plenty of ’90s fashion staples making their way back into the mainstream – think crop tops, dark lipstick, flannel shirts and choker necklaces.
However, there’s one in particular that most of us haven’t dared to try again – the cringeworthy fanny pack (or bum bag, as it’s also known in this part of the world).
But just try telling that to Matthew McConaughey. The Oscar-winning actor wore his bum bag loud and proud at a recent baseball game in the US, and he wasn’t shy about sharing his love for the accessory during a live interview.
As he told reporter Julia Morales, he is “not afraid of the fanny pack”, although he did admit to making a few adjustments.
“You gotta kind of put it on the side to make it look a little, not as nerdy. But still, practicality wins out.
“I’ve got so much gear in here that I don’t want in my pockets.”
With Matthew leading the charge, does this mean a return to the humble bum bag is on the way? We’ll have to wait and see!
