Kylie Jenner talks dealing with bullies and quitting Instagram

She’s built up a one-woman empire with millions of followers hanging on to her every word (and selfie), but teen reality star Kylie Jenner says she’s ready to retire from Instagram.

Speaking to Wonderland magazine for her cover shoot, the 18-year-old hinted that she was getting close to quitting the popular social media platform, where she has 52.3 million followers.

“It’s not that I don’t want to do it … Yeah, actually I kind of just don’t want to do it anymore,” she told the magazine, describing the page as her “alter ego”.

“Honestly. But I’ve always been like that. I want to be a businesswoman and be behind-the-scenes. Kylie Jenner needs to retire.”

Despite her young age, the brunette beauty is already well on her way to being a bona fide businesswoman with an app, mobile game, fashion line and her own range of top-selling lip products under her belt, among many others.

With all of those business ventures to juggle, it comes as no surprise to learn the teen is raking it in. According to In Style UK, Kylie’s net worth soared to a whopping £3.8 million last year, putting her just above her model-of-the-moment older sister Kendall Jenner, whose net worth is recorded at £3.2 million.

While there’s no doubt that Kylie’s fame has helped skyrocket her career, the reality star admits that she has paid a heavy price for her fame.

Kylie was just 10 years old when Keeping Up With The Kardashians began airing, and over the years, the world has watched her grow up in front of the cameras under a level of scrutiny few other teens face.

“Growing up, I’ve heard the worst things anyone could ever say about me and bullying was such a big part of my life,” she told Wonderland.

“So I started to look towards people with, like, I think, bigger, more real issues than I have.

“They inspire me because I was like, ‘I’m getting bullied all the time, but they’re just haters and [these people] deal with real-life issues.’”

This isn’t the first time the young star has spoken out about the pressures of being in the public spotlight. Last year, she told Interview magazine she struggled with seeing all of the hurtful comments about herself.

“Every single day I see something negative about me,” she revealed.

“And it’s just completely torn me apart. I feel like I’ve lost so many amazing traits because I’ve listened to stupid people, ignorant people who are bullies.”
