The reports first emerged earlier this week, when George Michael was spotted outside a restaurant in Zurich over the weekend.
Rumours swirled that the 51-year-old singer had checked into the Kusnacht Practice facility, an exclusive rehab centre in nearby Zollikon for patients with drug and alcohol issues.
A German newspaper reported the Wham! star had been at the rehab facility for months, and a friend of George’s told The Sun he “wasn’t well” and they were “wishing for him to get better”.
However, George’s rep has denied the reports and says the singer is simply on an extended holiday in Switzerland.
“Contrary to some of the reports in the press, George has not just entered rehab but is spending time in Europe. He is well and enjoying an extended break,” his rep told The Daily Mail.
The singer has sparked fears for his health over recent years and was rarely seen in public prior to the Switzerland outing. He has tangled with the police over his drug use several times and was arrested in 2008 for possession of cannabis and crack cocaine.
