Elton John is working on a musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada – the best-selling book and movie about a young intern trying to make it in the cut-throat world of fashion magazines.
Together with writer Paul Rudnick, Elton plans to create the musical for New York’s Broadway.
Following Andrea Sachs, the book and film shows the recent college grad’s highs and lows, as she tries to make it at a high end fashion magazine.

And it seems Elton couldn’t be more excited about the project, telling press: “I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”
A production timeline has yet to be announced, but with Elton and Paul already on board, as well as Broadway heavyweight Kevin McCollum, it seems like the project is in safe hands.
Along with Elton John’s hugely successful pop career, he has worked on several big budget Broadway shows, including The Lion King and Aida.
After news of the musical was confirmed, fans of both Elton and the movie took to Twitter to share their delight, with one writing:
“Yaaaaaaas!! How exciting!” Another added: “January just saved itself!”
