Charlize Theron has set the record straight on her high profile split with actor Sean Penn, insisting it was a mutual breakup.
The usually private actress broke her silence on their past relationship in an interview with WSJ Magazine.
The 40-year-old star hit back at rumours she ‘ghosted’ her ex-partner, which put simply means to suddenly cut off all contact.
“There is this need to sensationalize things, when you leave a relationship there has to be some f—ing crazy story or some crazy drama”, she said to the magazine.
Adding, “And the f—ing ghosting thing, like literally I still don’t even know what it is. It’s just its own beast. We were in a relationship and then it didn’t work anymore. And we both decided to separate. That’s it.”
News broke that the Hollywood power couple called off their romance in June 2015, after a year-and-a-half together.
