She only lost her partner last month, so it’s understandable that the musical megastar is going through an intense grieving process.
But never one to let her fans down, the songstress returned to her Las Vegas residency this week, giving an emotional rendition of her famous track ‘All By Myself.’
The song, which must have even greater significance to Dion since her husband passed away, is one of her most successful, and was used to open her first show since Rene’s death.
After a touching montage of family images were shown on screen, Celine began singing, and broke down as she tried to finish.
Speaking of her late husband, who passed away at 73 following a long battle with cancer, Celine said: “Through my life, I only had eyes for my husband, who sat out here night after night.”
“He’s always been on stage with me and nothing will ever change that.”
The singer also revealed that she talks to her dead husband all the time, saying: “I know he hears me, one way or another.”
Celine said that her career was “his masterpiece, his song, his symphony.”
“The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realized that if he ever left us, I would have to continue without him, for him.”
The couple were married for over 20 years, having met when Celine was just a child. They began dating in 1987, before marrying in 1994 when Dion was only 19.
