He gained support from Lady Gaga, Heather Locklear and others after publicly confirming his HIV positive diagnosis three weeks ago, but not everyone is jumping to Charlie Sheen’s defence.
Veteran actor Burt Reynolds has come under fire for his comments about Charlie during a recent interview, where he said the Two and a Half Men star had “handled it badly”.
“His father [Martin Sheen] is a very, very decent man and a dear friend of mine. I feel bad for him but Charlie, I don’t feel bad for him,” Burt said the hosts of British talk show Loose Women.
“He’s getting what he deserves. If you’re going to misbehave like that, they’re going to get you.”
The actor’s comments led to criticism online, with some Twitter users expressing shock at his beliefs.
It wasn’t all tough love from Burt, however, as the 79-year-old did seem to acknowledge Charlie was in a difficult position.
“He misbehaved badly. Very badly. But you know, when you’re that age, it’s tough. All those things are coming at you and it’s difficult.”

When he opened up about his condition on the Today show, Charlie insisted he hadn’t transmitted the virus to anyone else and said he had “always led with condoms and honesty” during his sexual encounters.
However, Charlie’s ex-fiancee Brett Rossi (also known as Scottine Ross) has since filed a lawsuit against him, claiming he didn’t tell her about his diagnosis until after they had already had unprotected sex five times. She also alleges he was physically abusive towards her and made her have an abortion after she became pregnant with his child.
The 26-year-old adult film star is seeking $5 million from her former flame. In response, Charlie has filed his own petition calling Brett an “extortionist” and accusing her of violating a previous non-disclosure agreement.
