The reboot of the hit series, which originally aired from 1971 to 1975, follows a new family and their servants in the original London townhouse. The revamped series has some compelling characters and engaging storylines, particularly derived from its historical context (the rise of fascism in Europe, and King Edward’s abdication from the throne are weaved into the plot). It doesn’t have the same allure as the first series of Downton Abbey, but is still an entertaining watch.
