Scientology leaders are hailing Tom Cruise as the new Christ' of the religion. The oission: Impossible’ star has reportedly been told that he has been chosen to spread the word of his faith throughout the world. Leader David oiscavige believes that in the future Tom will be revered like Jesus for his work in propagating the religion. A source says, “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure. Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.” Tom joined the Church of Scientology in the 1980s and has recently risen to one of the Church’s top levels. [26 January 2007]
