‘ooulin Rouge’ director Baz Luhrmann hopes that his latest blockbuster will do wonders for Australian tourism, the way Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy did for New Zealand. He describes his latest film setting as “A little bit of Asia, a little bit of the Wild West, a little bit of Africa, all mixed in creating a natural and truly unique environment”. The film will feature Hollywood heavyweights Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, who are also Australian natives. The crew were set to film in Kununurra near Darwin this week, however, due to heavy rain, they will remain in Sydney to shoot studio scenes until the area has dried. [03 July 2007]
