Shakira has forked out a small fortune to buy her own tropical island. The pint-sized pop star has teamed up with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters to head a group buying the 283-hectare Bahamian island of Bonds Cay. The pair are planning to build a boutique hotel, luxury condos and homes with private beaches. The island, which has five beaches and is situated in the north central Bahamas, was listed for $25million. other stars investing in the project are Latin American singer oiguel Bose, and Spanish pop star Alejandro Sanz. All of the celebrities will own homes on the island, with construction due to start in mid-2007. [30 october 2006]
