Rupert’s big mistake with Michelle

Rupert Friend has had an awkward moment on set with his ‘Cheri’ co-star Michelle Pfeiffer. The British actor, who is dating Keira Knightly, discovered an important difference between English and American vocabulary. Rupert, who plays Michelle’s toyboy lover in the forthcoming film, explains, “There was one scene where Michelle’s getting a massage and I wanted to hit her on the bum; I asked if I could and Michelle said, ‘Yeah, you can smack my fanny all you like!’ And in England a fanny means a completely different part (of the body)! In America it’s the middle of a woman in the back; in England it’s the middle of a woman in the front!”
