Despite being a supermodel, Elle MacPherson failed to attract a single bid after offering a date with herself for a charity auction. Although one bidder paid nearly $10,000 for her leather jacket, the prospect of a date with the blonde attracted no takers. A guest at the event tells, “When Elle put herself up for auction a buzz went round the room. But when the host asked for the first bid the room fell silent. I don’t know if the men were a bit intimidated by Elle’s looks but it was a bit embarrassing. Elle took it all in good humour though and cracked a joke about it. Those who could afford her must have been mad.” However Elle managed to get her own date last week – she was spotted dining with `Coronation Street’ star Ray Fearon in a trendy London restaurant. An eyewitness says, “They were having a wonderful time, Ray was making Elle laugh and she looked like she didn’t want the evening to end.” Ray, who played garage mechanic Nathan in the soap, is the latest in a string of men Elle has dated since she split from financier Arpad Busson in July last year.
