As if British actresses Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave haven’t been through enough tragedy recently, they now have to face the death of their brother Corin Redgrave, who has passed away at the age of 70.
Corin was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000. Back in 2005, his family described him as being in a “critical but stable” condition following a severe heart attack. In a statement issued this week, his family says, “Corin Redgrave was taken ill at home in the early hours of Sunday morning. He died very peacefully, surrounded by his family. We will miss him so very much.”
In one of his final performances on stage in 2009, Corin devoted his performance to his actress niece Natasha Richardson, Vanessa’s daughter who died tragically in a skiing accident at the age of 45. Following so close on her heels, the family will be feeling the tragedy deeply.
Corin was famed for his movie roles in ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ and ‘Excalibur’, as well as a number of theatre performances of Shakespeare. He leaves behind three sons and a wife.
