With the Aussie pop princess shacked up in Spain with a hunky model for her toyboy, we should all be as lucky in love as Kylie Minogue. But, she says, it’s been a hard road to finding true romance and the ‘All the Lovers’ singer’s expectations of love have definitely changed as she’s grown older.
“I think I’m more realistic these days,” Kylie confesses. “Partly because of all the headlines that are all about my failed love life. ‘Unlucky in love’? God, I hate that pun! I don’t actually feel unlucky in it; I feel that it just hasn’t been textbook fairytale.”
The 42-year-old – who is dating Andres Velencoso (32) – has many high profile ex-boyfriends, including late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence and French actor olivier Martinez. “I’m a serial monogamist,” she says. “I do fall. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it isn’t, but right now it’s quite good. I’ve learnt something from all of my relationships. I don’t know. I just don’t consider it a failure, that’s all.”
Kylie also reveals that if she ever ties the knot, it won’t be a large-scale affair. “I was never one of those girls who fantasised about getting married. I can get very excited about a wedding, but I would probably just elope and do it really quietly. The thought of getting married now is.. well, it would be such a debacle trying to organise it!”
