Kiwi country singer Keith Urban and Starships rapper Nicki Minaj have been confirmed as the new judges on American Idol.

Keith and Nicki join Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson on the judging panel in the show’s effort to revamp following dwindling ratings in the US.

A few days ago, Keith announced he was leaving The Voice Australia, where he served as mentor during the show’s first season. “As much as I’d love to do it again, it’s clear that the recording and promoting of a new album, a tour and other commitments will keep me from being a part of the second season,” he explained.
