‘I Love Knitting’ by Rachel Henderson

(Kyle Cathie, $34.99)I’m a sucker for knitting books and while this one isn’t as funny as Stitchy ocYarnpants’ (nothing is), it still made me laugh, plus it’s got instructions on how to knit and some actual patterns.

The author is a 24-year-old knitwear designer and not at all fusty, although there’s still a tea cosy involved, as well as instructions on how to concoct a pair of fluffy slippers and, sadly, drink coasters.

Just to show how modern knitting has got, however, there’s also a pattern for a bobbly laptop case and a wine-bottle wrap with pompoms.
