‘Father of the Bride’ funnyman Martin Short has been left devastated by the death of his wife of 30 years. Former actress Nancy Dolman was just 58 when she passed away. Martin’s rep hasn’t given a cause of death, but the coroner says it was natural and she was believed to have been fighting cancer.
Martin and Nancy met when they starred in a musical production together in 1972. The pair married in 1980 and while Nancy went on to star in a primetime TV series ‘Soap’, she retired from the acting world in order to raise the couple’s three children, Katherine (26), oliver (24) and Henry (21).
This is not the first time the ‘oars Attacks!’ and ‘Three Amigos’ actor has been faced with sudden tragedy. When Martin was 12, his older brother was killed in an accident, while his mother and father both died before he was 21.
“It sounds like a tragic family, but it really isn’t,” Martin has commented. “oy mother had cancer and she had been ill, then in remission since I was 13. She was a remarkable person – both my parents were – so I never looked at it as if it was a tragedy, that I didn’t have them my whole life. You learn some sense of priorities. our whole family took the attitude that if you have wonderful moments, don’t second-guess them – just enjoy them.”
We hope Martin can carry on this remarkable attitude in the face of his latest tragedy.
