Former Boyzone member Stephen Gately has tied the knot with his gay partner in a private ceremony in London. The 30-year-old boy-band singer was keen to put his union with Andy Cowles, an internet entrepreneur, on a legal footing, following the recent introduction of civil union legislation in Britain. Stephen and Andy enjoyed a private family ceremony at the exclusive Goring Hotel, which is adjacent to Buckingham Palace. [20 March 2006]
