We’ve all heard horror stories about the meddling mother-in-law, but this one really takes the biscuit.
One bride to be has described her shock, after her mother in law told her she’d booked a holiday at the same resort as where she’d be spending her honeymoon.
Taking to Mumsnet last week, the unhappy bride said she and her fiancée had been discussing honeymoon locations for months, telling their parents that they were planning on getting away to St Lucia in the Caribbean.
“Fast forward to last night and she’s posted on Facebook that she’s booked a holiday to the same chuffing resort she knew we were looking at," the bride-to-be wrote.
“Worse than that, the dates overlap so she’d be there for the first few days of our honeymoon.
“She’s making out like it was a pure accident but I really don’t feel that it is," the bride-to-be wrote. "She’s suggesting meeting up for a family meal when we arrive."
The woman says her partner is also angry about the situation, but that his mum is still playing innocent – saying she just saw a deal that was too good to pass up.
“I should have known; she has always been an interfering old bat,” says the bride, who is now looking for an alternative honeymoon location.
Mumsnet users were quick to support the bride-to-be, telling her she was perfectly within her rights to move the location.
“I’d be telling your fiancé to tell his bat* mother to cancel her holiday or they’ll be no wedding. Put your foot down now or this craziness will continue forever.”
