Auckland mum Cherie Paull had never won so much as a movie ticket in her life, so you can imagine her surprise when Woman’s Day rang to tell her she’d won herself a brand new Holden Spark!

“We’ve never won anything before, it’s so exciting!” she told Woman’s Day.

But, it’s actually her seven-year-old daughter, Olivia, to whom she owes her amazing prize.

Both massive netball fans, the mum and daughter went to watch the Silver Ferns play Australia at Vector Arena last month, where Woman’s Day was holding a promotion to win the Spark.

All they had to do was guess the number of magazines in the car, and out of the thousands that queued up to take a punt, Olivia and mum Cherie were the only ones in the whole country to nail it, correctly submitting 905.

“I don’t know how we got that number, I just guessed and I was right!” little Olivia says excitedly.

When Woman’s Day rang to deliver the happy news, there was a lot of screaming down the end of the phone- both Cherie and Olivia’s- who was coincidentally just about to head to her netball end-of-season party.

And to top everything off, Cherie and Olivia, accompanied by dad Nigel and little sister Georgia (5), were gifted their brand new car by Silver Fern legend Maria Tutaia, who is one of Olivia’s idols.

“This is wicked, I’m so glad a true netball fan won,” she says.

Cherie adds, “Thanks so much to Woman’s Day and Holden, this is all a bit overwhelming. We’re so, so thankful. But I know, as soon as Olivia turns 18, she’ll definitely be asking me for a car!”
