Chiefs rugby fan reunited with jersey

Last week, we reported the story of the little rugby fan who lost his beloved Chiefs jersey at a game.

The little one was left devastated when his Christmas present went missing during a game – and his mum had to deal with more than a few tears as a result.

Posting to the Chiefs Rugby Facebook page, Nicole Anderson appealed to the girls seen leaving with the jersey, asking for its safe return.

The post quickly went viral, with a photo of her son’s adorable and tearful face attached.

Seeing Nicole’s Facebook post, The Chiefs team tried to set things right: “Hi Nicole, we’re sorry this happened to your little man at the game. We’d love to get a new jersey sent to him. We are sure our boys can sign it for him too. Is there an email we can reach you on to organise details and delivery? Thanks for your support tonight!”

And it wasn’t just the club who were keen to help the Anderson family out, with other fans offering to courier their jerseys to them to compensate the loss.

But we can happily report that the cute youngster has now been reunited with his original jersey.

Chiefs Rugby shared the news on their Facebook channel, including the photo of their biggest fan grinning into the camera.

“We are rapt to let you know that this rad little man has been reunited with his original Chiefs jersey. This is the face of one chuffed wee lad. The jersey was returned to his wonderful parents today. Big thank you to the girls for making contact and getting it back to our super Chiefs fan.

“Cheers to our amazing Chiefs whanau for the outpouring of support and generosity. The story gets even better with his wonderful family asking that the Chiefs donate the replacement jersey we offered to a very deserving little battler at Waikato Hospital – which we are thrilled to do. This is #chiefsmana at its finest!”
