The world’s first transsexual mayor and MP, who suffers from chronic kidney disease, had a live donor all ready to go, but a heart condition has seen the operation shelved – because she might not survive the surgery.

“We had everything all lined up, but suddenly it was brought to a grinding halt,” Georgina, 58, tells us. “I didn’t deal with the news well. It means we’re running out of options. We’re now grasping at straws.”
