3 ways to be thankful

Being grateful can change your mindset

Being grateful can change your mindset

Being thankful for the everyday things in your life can be a strong tool for change. Try writing down 3-5 things you’re thankful for at the end of each day – you’ll be surprised how much of a difference it can make!

If you need more convincing, here are three reasons why writing down what you’re grateful for could change your life.

1. The brain change

The brain is constantly setting and responding to patterns based on what you consistently think, say or do.

When you write what you’re grateful for, new neural pathways are formed in your brain, providing consistent focus on positive, uplifting or special moments in your life. What you will notice is that you become less irritable, more patient, more positive and more productive.

2. Good manners

If you would like more, firstly give thanks for what you have – this is the universal law of giving and receiving. So in accordance with this theory, can we truly expect further happiness in our lives if we are not thankful for what brings us happiness and joy today?

3. A new perspective

As you increase your focus on what is good in your life, the weight of what stresses you lessens. The more overwhelmed you are, the greater the change you will experience by writing what you are grateful for.

Further, research suggests that when we are thankful, we naturally see more things to be grateful for. It will take approximately three weeks for you to experience a noticeable shift.
