Talk us through your daily routine
I will usually do 10 to 15 minutes of meditation, I use the app Headspace. Then I will get up, feed my adorable, mini schnauzer puppies and head to either an F45 or hot yoga class.
I really should check the news, my grandad recently gave me a lecture about not being up to date with current affairs haha!
Once I get home after my class I will make breakfast, either porridge or scrambled eggs on toast and take the dogs for a quick walk. This gives me a sense of clarity and confidence to take on the day.
Every day is different for me; some days consist of meetings, events, sitting at home and responding to emails. I love the variety but it does mean I need to be super organised! I am an avid list maker and planner.
What kind of work outs do you enjoy the most?
I exercise because I genuinely LOVE the feeling, during and after. I am a pretty social person so working out with friends is my favourite way to exercise (it also brings out my competitive nature haha!).
High intensity workouts such as F45 and circuit training are usually my go-to. However, I think restorative practices such as yoga are equally as important – they are great for mental health.
What motivates you to work out?
Dating a professional athlete is definitely a motivating factor! I see how hard my partner trains and it makes me want to be equally as fit (wishful thinking!).
I have always been a sporty person and when you enjoy working out you don’t really need too much motivation.
How do you try to stay positive and mentally healthy?
Life is about balance and I think the more balance you have the healthier you feel.
If I am in a slump I usually do something for myself, like get a massage or take a nice hot bath or even lighting a scented candle and curling up on the couch with a Netflix series.
It took me a while to learn that we are in control of our own happiness and we shouldn’t rely on others to make us feel a certain way. I do what serves me, what makes me happy and surround myself with people and things that make me feel good.
How do you try to pick yourself up and stay strong?
Catching up with friends always helps me to feel better, a problem shared is a problem halved and friends always give the best advice.
If you are going through a tough time I would encourage you to talk about it. Nine times out of 10 someone else will be going through something similar.
I truly believe everything happens for a reason and there is always a lesson when something negative happens (as hard as that is to believe in some cases!).
