H&M to open second New Zealand store

Wellington is due to get its very first H&M store.

One of the world’s largest fashion retailers, H&M, has Wellington in a flurry as it announces a store for the capital city. Although a date has not been released yet, the shop is set to open its doors before the end of the year.

The Swedish retailer has secured a spot at Queensgate Shopping Centre in Lower Hutt, which re-opened earlier this year after improvements were made to the building infrastructure due to damage from the Kaikoura-centred earthquake.

If you want to be the first to get your hands on the brand’s affordable, on-trend pieces in Wellington expect to wait in line. When H&M’s flagship New Zealand store opened in Auckland’s Sylvia Park late last year more than 1,000 shoppers queued up, with many shoppers staying overnight.

The news follows the recent Wellington opening of another high street favourite, Topshop, and luxury department store David Jones.

More details to follow.
