Will and Steve win My Kitchen Rules Australia

The British expats have taken out the title after a nail-biting finale
Will and Steve win My Kitchen Rules Australia

British best friends Will Stewart and Steve Flood have won the latest season of My Kitchen Rules Australia, serving up a creative five-course menu that wowed the judges and saw them inch ahead of runners up Jac Bakhash and Shaz Sellings.

Both teams plated up a delicious array of dishes, but in the end, Will and Steve’s efforts earned them a total score of 52 out of 60, placing them two points ahead of Jac and Shaz. The duo is the first all-male team to ever take out the MKR title, and it seems they’re still adjusting to their big win!

“It still hasn’t sunk in, everywhere we go it’s high fives, hugs, selfies,” says Will.

“We’re ecstatic and loving every single minute. It’s really cool.”

The English expats, who quit their jobs as investment bankers to follow their foodie dreams, have always been a force to be reckoned with in the competition.

They impressed with their very first Instant Restaurant and rarely put a foot wrong in the challenges. In the finale, the judges raved about the “creativity and restraint” of Will and Steve’s menu, which included cured kingfish with yellow curry, quail with corn and jus, mullet with Jerusalem artichoke, confit duck with beetroot and peaches and cream.

The talented twosome hired out a bar in Sydney to watch the final episode, where they found out the final results along with the rest of Australia.

“It was a bit self-indulgent and we genuinely didn’t know what was going to happen when we were watching, so it was pretty cool to see us win,” Will says.

“We’re so humbled by all the love we’re receiving, people have been thanking us for entertaining them and it’s so strange but we feel so lucky,” Steve adds.

Even in the middle of their victory, the boys took the time to make a phone call to Jac and Shaz, who they say were “absolutely lovely about everything”.

“We really felt for the girls but they wished us well and if it had been the other way around we would have been pretty happy to lose to them,” Will said.
