It’s a rollercoaster week for The Block Australia’s Courtney McInnes and Grant Freeman, starting with a major feud after they catch their builders spreading lies about them.
“To say I was disappointed by the comments isn’t enough – I was furious,” confesses landscape developer Grant, 30. “They said we hadn’t paid their invoices when we had. It was a flat-out lie and a shot at our character. I wasn’t going to stand for that.”
After returning from a luxury trip to Mornington Peninsula as part of their prize for winning last week’s room reveal, Grant and furniture designer Courtney, 32, are met with judgement from those who think they haven’t paid their builders. When Grant sets the record straight, it sparks a heated row with their team.
But the drama isn’t just confined to House 2 – Courtney and Grant have noticed the arguments between engaged couple Paige Beechey and Jesse Maguire are escalating. Will they be the team rumoured to leave halfway through the latest season?
“If someone were to ask me who was most likely to leave, I’d say Paige and Jesse,” tells Grant. “They have a really tough time and missed out on wins by a minor amount of points. That makes it really hard to keep your motivation.”
Luckily, when Grant gets a surprise visit from his brother and best friend Andrew to celebrate his birthday, it really improves his mood.
He says, “It was incredible. Everyone was feeling down around the one-month mark, but seeing him gave me the push to keep going.”
