Breaking Bad sweeps the 2014 Emmys

The AMC show went out on a high almost a year after its final episode

Emmys voters were still feeling the love for the critically acclaimed show, rewarding it with wins for Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Writing, Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor for a Drama Series.

Breaking Bad didn’t scoop up all the awards, however. HBO’s True Detective nabbed the gong for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, giving director Cary Fukunaga a chance to debut his ‘man-braids’ on stage.

Julianna Margulies was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for The Good Wife, although her castmate Josh Charles came up empty against Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul.

Modern Family proved to be as popular as ever with wins for Supporting Actor, Directing and Comedy Series.

The other categories were filled with a few surprises. Sherlock Holmes duo Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman won for Lead Actor and Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, respectively, and Kathy Bates looked completely shocked to win the Supporting Actress award for American Horror Story.
