When royal couples kiss - a history of royal snogs

Meghan and Harry aren't the only royals who have enjoyed a PDA over the years...

The picture of Harry and Meghan kissing at the polo became an instant media moment. Photographers clicked furiously as the royal family's newest royal wife presented her husband with a trophy and a peck.

But they're not the only royals who like a smooch. We went back through the archives to find other examples of a good PDA between royal couples and were delighted to find that Meghan and Harry are by far the first to share a peck at the polo. In fact, Harry seems to be the last in his family to kiss at the polo, after his mum, dad and big brother.

Even the Queen and Prince Philip have dared to share a kiss in public before today.

Here they are again on the day they officially announced their engagement.

Prince Charles leans in for a smooch with second wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. They are, again, at the polo.

Of the Queen's three sons, Princes Charles, Andrew and Edward - Edward has been the only prince to enjoy an enduring marriage, with his 1999 nuptials to Sophie, Duchess of Wessex. Here, the content prince gives his wife a good luck peck before she sets off on a charity bike ride in support of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

This kiss didn't receive quite the same coverage as Prince Harry and Meghan's... but here we have Prince Albert II of Monaco kissing his wife Princess Charlene of Monaco after she won with her team the Riviera Water Bike Challenge in support of the Princess Charlene foundation in Monaco on June 17.

Well, you can't say 'royal kiss' without reliving royal weddings. Here are our favourite royal wedding kisses.

Without the grumpy flower girl.

And the kiss of all royal kisses - that moment 37 years ago when Prince Charles kissed his new bride Diana, Princess of Wales on the royal balcony on July 29, 1981. This was the wedding - and the kiss - of the century, changing the royal family as we knew them forever.
