Today, May 2, is the birthday of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge – and the little princess will officially be three years old.
Prince George’s cheeky counterpart is not only celebrating turning three, this year it will be extra special as the Cambridge clan will get to celebrate the occasion with their newest family member, Prince Louis Arthur Charles, who was born on April 23rd.
It was during Princess Charlotte and Prince George’s trip to the hospital to meet their baby brother last week that the world was given a glimpse of just how sociable the young princess has become when she tried out her sweet royal wave.
While she might not be the direct heir to the throne when it comes to family dynamics, The Queen says her great-granddaughter is very much in charge – and she especially loves to boss her four-year-old big brother George around.
According to her proud parents, their “extremely chatty” daughter, who loves to dance and is especially partial to home-made pizza, certainly keeps them on their toes.
“She is very cute but has quite a feisty side. George has turned out to be a lovely little boy. I hope he will keep Charlotte in order,” Duchess Catherine has said of her only daughter.
It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating Princess Charlotte’s second birthday. We’ve loved watching the tot grow up, and who can forget the adorable tantrum she threw on the tarmac during the family’s tour of Poland and Germany.
Here, we look back on some of the little royal’s milestone moments.
Insiders tell Woman’s Day Charlotte is one of “the happiest royal tots in British history” – and her idyllic upbringing is all thanks to her mum and dad.
“They’ve got everything any child could ever want and – unusually for the Windsors – they’ve got two parents who completely and utterly dote on them,” a palace insider explained.
When it comes to raising their daughter, Prince William says there’s one trait they’re working hard to instil.
“Catherine and I are clear that we want both George and Charlotte to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings,” he told CALMzine last year.
Growing up before our eyes, Charlotte’s first three years have been jam-packed with family outings and royally sweet moments.
In 2016, she won hearts across the globe when she joined her parents on their royal tour of Canada and spoke her first public words (“pop” no less) at a children’s party.
She also made her Trooping the Colour balcony debut and showed off her impressive walking skills when she attended church with her loved ones on Christmas Day at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire.
And who could forget her starring role at aunt Pippa’s wedding as a bridesmaid last May?
In January, Charlotte started the first chapter of her education at Willcocks Nursery School in London and the palace released a set of stunning photos to mark the occasion.
2018 year is set to be huge for Charlotte as she not only learns to be a big sister, we’ll hopefully see her in some capacity at Uncle Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle this month.
