Becoming a parent is a definite game-changer, and in a new interview, the Duke of Cambridge has opened up about how his two adorable children have brought a whole new meaning to his life.

“I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be,” Prince William reveals in the new documentary When Ant and Dec Met the Prince: 40 Years of the Prince’s Trust, adding that the “smallest little things” have an effect on him now.

“You well up a little bit more and you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father, just because you realize how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective, the idea of not being around to see your children grow up.”

That wasn’t all the royal had to reveal during his chat with veteran TV presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

William also paid tribute to his father, Prince Charles, and his mother, the late Princess Diana, for opening his eyes to the plight of others through their charity work.

“I think it’s seeing such a broad spectrum of life, it’s really important from a young age, to give you a bit of perspective to go, ‘You know, you don’t just live in a palace,’” he said.

“It’s very important you get out and you see what goes on in the real world.”

That’s a view the royal will no doubt pass on to two-year-old Prince George and eight-month-old Princess Charlotte. Both William and his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, are heavily involved in their own charitable activities, and recently participated in the annual ICAP Charity Day to raise funds for their chosen organisations.
