Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry reveal new details about their adorable dog

Turns out Meghan's beagle, Guy, has a female friend to play with!

Ever since Prince Harry and his new wife Meghan Markle adopted their first dog together over the summer, there’s been plenty of buzz about breeds and names.

Though nothing was ever officially confirmed by the royal family, the word on the street seemed to be that the dog, a Labrador, was a boy named Oz. But apparently, that info wasn’t correct, and now Meghan and Harry are setting the record straight. Well, kind of. They’re not so much giving us the details as they are laughing at us for getting it all wrong.

During a visit to the Survivors’ Network charity in Brighton, the couple were presented with a picture of their dog. And at first, they were totally confused, because the dog in the picture looked nothing like their new lab!

Harry himself was mostly amazed that anyone would even attempt to draw their dog. “No one’s even seen our dog!” he exclaimed teasingly. Duchess Meghan joined right in. “And they keep getting her name wrong!” she added, laughing.

It turns out that Meghan and Harry’s new pooch, who they’ve apparently been having trouble potty-training, isn’t a boy dog at all — and her name is definitely not Oz.

The real plot twist, though, was that they were actually looking at a picture of Guy, the beagle that Meghan brought with her when she moved to the UK. Harry was the first to catch on, laughing when he realised. “Oh, maybe that’s Guy,” he said, and the couple had a good giggle together.

We can’t wait to meet their new furry friend, who we’ll call Not-Oz for now, but Meghan and Harry actually don’t have the best track record with dogs.

Though it’s clear they’re both dog lovers, there’s been some drama on the subject in the past. Before Meghan left North America, she actually had a second pet, a lab-shepherd mix named Bogart that she adopted at Ellen DeGeneres’ behest.

“It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something,” Meghan joked about how she found her pet. “I’m sitting there holding him and she’s like, ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ And I said, ‘Well, I think I’d name him Bogart,’ and she’s like, ‘You’re taking the dog home.'”

Though she adopted the dog at the time, he didn’t come with her when she joined the royal family.

“This is a permanent decision that Meghan made on her own,” a Kensington Palace rep confirmed at the time. “[And] not an easy one at that.”

The official word is that Bogart’s vets in Canada thought he wasn’t healthy enough to make the trip to Britain, so he is staying with Meghan’s close friends in Canada. We’re sure he’s still getting plenty of love!
