During a visit to the Scouts headquarters in the outskirts of London on Thursday, Duchess Catherine revealed she’d love Prince George and Princess Charlotte to join the Beaver Scouts (the youngest group of scouts) in the future.

As a former Brownie Scout herself, we’re sure her two eldest children George, five, and Charlotte, three, would be delighted to follow in their mother’s footsteps.

“She said she would like them to go into the scouting community because she loves what it stands for – that it’s a very open and inclusive way into life,” 14-year-old Lauren Noble, who helped show Kate around, told People.

“She said it would be a great thing for them to get involved in.”

Tahseen Patel, also spoke to Kate, who said they chatted about different cultures.

“She said she’d like to get her children involved and how you learn so many skills for life in the scouts.

“I talked to her about the mosque and how important it is for religion and scouting to blend together and how we have to learn about each other’s religions and be united with each other.

“She emphasised how important it is to understand each other and learn about each other’s religions and cultures,” the 17-year-old added.

“She is really humble. I was nervous – we all were – but she was a normal humble human being.

“She made us feel comfortable.”

During her visit to the headquarters the royal mum-of-three dressed it down with a red turtle-neck jumper by J. Crew, black jeans and boots. She completed the look with a khaki jacket and the striped UK Scouting scarf, that was tied in a friendship knot.

The Duchess put her Brownie skills to good use too, getting involved in some of the outdoor activities that the youngsters were involved in, including hand painting, balloon rocket testing and den-making.

At one point the Duchess climbed into the den made out of branches and leaves to help check how waterproof it was.

Speaking to People, the project’s leader Frankii Newbury said, “[Kate] got straight in there with one of our Beavers and checked it out.

“It was wonderful and the Scouts absolutely love her.

“The highlight was the Duchess, smack bang in the middle of it all, getting in the den – braver woman than I am.”

16-year-old Kameron Liddar, who helps at a scout group in Oxfordshire told People, “She got fully involved with the hand painting, and ended up with a green hand.

“As a mum you can see she has the talents.

“She was very friendly with them and knew what to do with them.

“She wasn’t afraid to get a little bit grubby.”

Kate was made patron of Scout Association in 2012 and also got involved with the organisation by becoming a hands-on volunteer.

“She approached [the Scouts] and said she wanted to be involved,” a royal spokesperson told The Telegraph.

“They take children from all backgrounds into the great outdoors.

“They came up with the idea she should be a volunteer.”

Kate’s visit on Thursday was to observe the great work the Scout’s Early Years pilot scheme was accomplishing for girls and boys aged four and five.

Their goal is to help improve the children’s emotional resilience, communication and language skills and readiness for school.

Meanwhile, yesterday it was announced that her husband, Prince William, would be visiting New Zealand in late April, to honour the 50 victims of the Christchurch terrorist attacks which occurred on March 15.

In a statement released by Kensington Palace, it was announced the Duke of Cambridge would be visiting on behalf of The Queen, meeting with those affected by the attack as well as paying tribute to the “extraordinary compassion and solidarity that the people of New Zealand have displayed in recent weeks.”

Prince William also visited New Zealand following the Canterbury earthquakes in 2011.
