Lorde will be performing at next week’s ARIA awards in Sydney. But wait – so too is Harry Styles, ex-boyfriend to Lorde’s bestie Taylor Swift.
They’re also going head to head in the international artist of the year category.
Lorde is well placed to take out the win. Respected British music magazine NME has just named Melodrama album of the year, beating out Taylor’s album Reputation which came in at number 31. Harry’s self-titled album failed to make the top 50 list, released today.
Tay Tay is well known for her spats with other stars, having feuded with Katie Perry and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in the past. And while she and Lorde have so far remained good friends, there’s no telling what will happen if Lorde gets too close to famed womaniser Harry Styles.
Harry and Taylor dated briefly back in 2012 and she’s struggled to shake off the association ever since, not helped by the fact that she has penned many of her hit songs about him including ‘I knew you were trouble’ and ‘Out of the Woods.’

If rumours are to be believed, Lorde is currently still single. And while Harry is currently dating Victoria’s Secret model Camilla Rowe, his romances have been so far fleeting. Not to mention the fact that he has a penchant for Kiwi women, having previously dated model Georgia Fowler. Here’s hoping our Kiwi songstress comes out of the meeting unscathed.
