Sofia Vergara is trying to permanently block her ex-fiancé from accessing her frozen embryos

The 44-year-old actress is hoping to put a permanent end to her nasty two-year legal battle.

Sofia Vergara, 44, has been embroiled in a heated legal battle with her ex-fiancé since he filed a lawsuit against the Modern Family star in 2015, to prevent the destruction of two cryopreserved female embryos.

In court documents obtained by E News, Sofia has now stated her desire to permanently block the business mogul from filing any future lawsuits in an attempt to reach the embryos.

The move is believed to reflect Sofia’s desire to end the open-ended battle that last made headlines when Nick voluntarily dismissed the case without prejudice.

A complex move, which is believed to have been enacted just so he could file again at a later date.

The court documents, which were filed on Tuesday local time, state that Sofia believes her 41-year-old ex will continue pursue custody of the embryos and “attempt to obtain a legal decree that will ultimately grant him control” of them.

The Colombian-American actress is seeking the court order, as well as a financial sum for the two-year battle.

In 2013, Nick and Sofia went through several rounds of IVF in an attempt to conceive a child. It was at this point that Sofia’s eggs, fertilised with his sperm, were cryopreserved.

Nick has been so vociferous about the cause, he even penned an op-ed for The New York Times entitled “Our Frozen Embryos Have a Right to Live.”

In the op-ed, Nick wrote: “Many have asked me: Why not just move on and have a family of your own? I have every intention of doing so. But that doesn’t mean I should let the two lives I have already created be destroyed or sit in a freezer until the end of time.”

Speaking on the controversial matter, Sofia has said, “A child needs a mother and a loving relationship with parents who don’t hate each other.”

“I don’t hate him but obviously he has a problem. A kid needs parents. I wouldn’t want to bring kids to the world where it’s already set against them. It would be so selfish.”

Sofia, who is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit TV sitcom Modern Family, is now married to fellow actor, Joe Manganiello.
